Sahar Azimi, Storyteller & Education Advocate

Sahar Azimi is a Calgary-based high school student, storyteller, and advocate for girls’ education. Her journey began with the loss of her own right to education in Afghanistan. But Sahar chose not to let her story be silenced. After coming to Canada, she turned her experience into a voice for millions of Afghan girls whose right to education has been taken away and through her digital platform, she raises awareness about girls’ right to education.

Sahar served as a Youth Ambassador with Plan International Canada’s Girls Belong Here program, which empowered her to use her voice and grow as a young leader. She was a recipient of the Youth of Distinction Awards 2026 in the Advocacy category in Calgary and was featured by Global News Calgary. She also volunteers with the Afghans Better Life Organization, providing educational and humanitarian resources for Afghan women and girls.

Sahar performs on Saturday, November 7 at 1:15pm in the White Box Gallery, at 3:40pm in the Upper Barracks, and at 5:40pm in the Upper Barracks.
