Rowan Fisher, Director of Programming

Rowan Fisher is the Director of Programming for CJFF, the Director of Programs for the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association (CIWA), and a former Managing Lawyer. In addition to being well regarded for her legal practice and firm leadership, she was the 2023-2025 Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta South Immigration Section. Winner of the 2023 Calgary Chamber of Commerce SureCall Community Champion Award, and the 2024 Diversity Leadership Award from Immigrant Champions of Canada, she dedicates her time and energy to building a better place for us all to live.

Her passion for access to justice and human rights led her to CJFF's door. Along with helping to develop the long term goals and direction of the festival, she works with various CJFF teams to coordinate film selection and scheduling. In addition to volunteering on the CJFF Board, she provides free presentations to newcomer communities, and gives important information and training to a broad range of organizations and industries. All of these activities are a result of her dedication to upholding, fighting for, and supporting the rights of all of us to live in peace, safety, and health, and be who we are without fear.

Going forward, Rowan would like to support CJFF in becoming a significant landmark of the Alberta arts and social justice scene, ensuring continued free access to important and impactful story sharing from around the world - and right here on our doorstep.
