Katelyn Lucas

Katelyn Lucas is a Métis woman and the Executive Director of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary. She has worked in the Indigenous community for about 20 years, at both front-line and leadership levels, with a focus on homelessness and vulnerable populations.

As Co-Chair of the Aboriginal Standing Committee on Housing and Homelessness (ASCHH), she has taken part in funding panels, community consultations, and think tanks to identify culturally appropriate housing options for Indigenous people experiencing homelessness.

Community engagement, partnership building, and program evaluation are central to her work, which includes developing curricula for Indigenous educational institutions and secondary schools, delivering cultural awareness training and workshops, and creating wellness programs for First Nations people and communities.

She has built relationships with the Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Tribal Council (G4), government partners, Indigenous partner agencies, and community members from Calgary and neighbouring First Nations, and works to address gaps and barriers facing urban and rural First Nations communities.
