Joshua Beebe, Singer-Songwriter

Joshua Beebe is an Indigenous singer-songwriter, storyteller, and member of Pimicikamak Cree Nation, based in Southern Alberta. His music comes from lived experience and the belief that even the hardest parts of our lives can become something that connects us.

Through heartfelt folk, indie, and country-influenced songs, Joshua writes about grief, healing, poverty, family, Indigenous experience, love, resilience, and trying to find your way forward. His songs are often deeply personal, but his goal is never just to tell his own story. He wants people in the audience to hear pieces of themselves in it too.

Whether performing alone or with The Forest Orchestra, Joshua tries to create something that feels less like a traditional concert and more like a shared experience. There is room for sadness, humour, hope, reflection, and the kind of stories people sometimes have a hard time saying out loud.

His music has brought him to stages across Alberta, including Calgary’s National Music Centre at Studio Bell, and his songwriting has been recognized through the South Country Fair Songwriting Competition and the YYC Songwriter Showdown.

At the centre of Joshua’s work is a simple idea. Our stories matter. When we are willing to share them honestly, music can help people feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
