Jon Yee | Vice President of External Relations at the Centre for Newcomers
Jon Yee is Vice President of External Relations at the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary, where he leads government affairs and advocacy to support immigrants and refugees. He oversees outreach, communications, fund development, volunteer services, and research.
As part of the leadership team of a local NGO, Jon spent ten months in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley during the Syrian Civil War delivering humanitarian aid to Syrian and Palestinian refugees. This experience gave him firsthand insight into displacement, survival, and resilience in conflict zones.
We are pleased to welcome Jon to the Calgary Justice Film Festival as a speaker for Maria & Feel It From My Words. The film’s themes of resilience, displacement, and the search for safety resonate deeply with Jon’s work advocating for justice and supporting displaced and vulnerable communities. His unique perspective will enrich the conversation around this important film.
