Elliot Dewhirst, Manager, End of the Rainbow Foundation
Elliot Dewhirst is a community advocate and the Manager of End of the Rainbow Foundation, a Calgary-based organization supporting LGBTQ+ refugees, newcomers, and the broader 2SLGBTQI+ community.
Elliot’s work centres on creating safer, more connected communities through peer support, education, advocacy, and meaningful collaboration. With more than a decade of experience facilitating Trans Peer Support, Elliot brings a deep understanding of the importance of belonging, access, and community-led solutions.
Through End of the Rainbow Foundation, Elliot has helped lead initiatives that strengthen support systems for LGBTQ+ newcomers, including the opening of the Calgary Rainbow Room in 2026. Created through extensive community consultation, the Rainbow Room represents a significant step forward in bringing organizations and services together to create Calgary’s very first 2SLGBTQI+ community centre.
Elliot is also actively involved in community-based research, consultations, and working groups at provincial and national levels, contributing to conversations around disability, sexual health, LGBTQI+ migration, and gender-based violence.
