Dipankar Mukherjee, Photographer & Author

Dipankar Mukherjee is a Calgary-based photographer and author who moved to Canada from India in the early 1980s. His work explores human connection, dignity, identity, belonging, and the shared experiences that transcend geography and culture.

His photography has been exhibited at cSPACE Marda Loop, Calgary Central Library, and the Consulate of Mexico in Calgary, and his work and photographic journey have been featured on CBC Calgary’s The Eyeopener. His current body of work, Crossing Boundaries – Finding the Moment, has also been published as a photobook.

In December 2026, he will present Crossing Boundaries – Finding the Moment at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Kolkata, followed by The Human Moment at the India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi, in January 2027. A further exhibition is scheduled at Calgary Public Library in May 2027.

Through photographs made across countries and communities, Mukherjee seeks out ordinary, often fleeting moments that reveal how people live, connect and belong. His guiding thought is “We Cross. We Connect. And That’s How We Live.”

At the Calgary Justice Film Festival, Mukherjee will present a selection from The Human Moment, exploring identity, dignity, memory and the human experiences that connect us across boundaries.
