Back Road Bandits, Drum Group
The Back Road Bandits are a dynamic and deeply respected drum group of five members. Their story began with one drum and three brothers, and it has grown into a powerful circle of voices after two more talented members were warmly welcomed into the group.
Rudy Benjamin and Ty Benjamin are proud members of the Stoney Nakoda Nation, Goodstoney First Nation, Treaty 7. William Daniels-Scout carries a rich and treasured heritage as a Stoney Nakoda member of Bearspaw First Nation, with ties to the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika Nation), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation, in Treaty 7 territory. Cody Warawa is a proud member of the Chipewyan Prairie Dene First Nation, Treaty 8, and Joe Starlight is a proud member of the Tsuut’ina Nation (Dene), Treaty 7.
Together, the Back Road Bandits bring vibrant energy, heartfelt songs, and a warm spirit of community to every gathering. We are honoured to welcome them to the Indigenous Lens Opening Ceremony.
