Asma Senouci, Visual Artist
Asma Senouci is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Calgary whose practice combines acrylic pouring, mixed media, collage, metallic elements, natural materials, and figurative imagery. Her work explores themes of justice, identity, femininity, resilience, freedom, and transformation.
Working intuitively, Senouci often begins with the unpredictability of fluid acrylics and builds upon these organic forms with symbolic figures and objects. Recurring imagery including women, scales of justice, birds, flowers, celestial elements, and natural forms creates a visual language in which abstraction and storytelling coexist. Her work frequently contrasts beauty and vulnerability with strength, inviting viewers to discover multiple layers of meaning within each piece.
She approaches art as a space for reflection and expression, using colour, texture, symbolism, and mixed materials to explore the relationship between individual experience and broader ideas of justice, dignity, peace, and human resilience.
